ALVARO CARPE TO REPLACE GUEVARA IN PRAMAC YAMAHA’S 2027 MOTO2 LINE-UP
29 Oct 2026·

Alvaro Carpe will move up to Moto2 with the BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha team in 2027, taking the place of Izan Guevara, who is set to join Pramac’s MotoGP squad next season. Carpe will partner Alberto Ferrandez, whom the team has retained.
The Spaniard arrives with a strong record in junior racing: he won both the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup and the FIM JuniorGP World Championship in 2024 before stepping into the grand prix paddock with Red Bull KTM Ajo. He has since collected 11 Moto3 podiums. With four races remaining this season, he is still seeking his first victory. Carpe is fourth in the championship, which Maximo Quiles has already secured.
Yamaha managing director Paolo Pavesio described the Moto2 team as a development step for riders aiming to reach the premier class. “We want the BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2 team to be the place where talented young riders aim to go to pave their road to MotoGP, learn how to compete at a higher level, and build the foundations for the next stages of their careers,” he said. Pavesio added that Carpe had shown “talent and potential” and that Yamaha believes the project can help him progress.
Carpe said the promotion was significant, and that joining the Yamaha-backed team made it “even more special.”
Pramac team principal Paolo Campinoti also welcomed the signing, saying the team was pleased to continue its work with Yamaha developing young riders. He said Pramac looked forward to supporting Carpe through the step up. Campinoti praised Ferrandez for adapting to Moto2 this season and said the team believes he can make substantial progress in 2027 and become one of the category’s leading riders.
Guevara’s move to MotoGP comes as he fights for this year’s Moto2 title. He begins the Malaysian Grand Prix weekend only 5.5 points behind Manuel Gonzalez in the standings and is the sole Boscoscuro rider among the top seven. Ferrandez, meanwhile, is 21st, with ninth his best race result so far.
Pramac is also rumoured to be considering a switch from Boscoscuro to Kalex machinery for its Moto2 campaign in 2027.
