DI GIANNANTONIO TARGETS ANOTHER STRONG PHILLIP ISLAND SHOWING

21 Oct 2026·

Fabio Di Giannantonio heads to the Australian Grand Prix encouraged by a recent return to the podium and a strong record at Phillip Island. The VR46 rider finished third in the sprint in Indonesia, ending a long wait for a podium, before taking eighth in Sunday’s Grand Prix. The results reflect an upward trend after weeks of work by Di Giannantonio and his team.

With five events remaining, he is sixth in the championship. He trails leader Jorge Martin by 110 points but is just 14 behind fourth-placed Ai Ogura.

Phillip Island is a favourite venue for the Italian. He was runner-up there in Moto3 in 2018 and claimed his first MotoGP podium at the circuit in 2023. He also finished second in the 2025 Australian Grand Prix, held on Sunday.

“I have a special connection with the Phillip Island circuit,” Di Giannantonio said. He described the event as unique on the calendar, saying its atmosphere differs from other races and brings the team closer together away from the track. “The circuit itself is incredible and gives me a real boost. I’ve had some great moments there.”

He plans to carry the speed and positive elements from Indonesia into the weekend. “I’m confident, and we won’t give up!” he added.

This year’s Australian Grand Prix will be the final one at Phillip Island. The event is scheduled to move to Adelaide in November 2027.
