MOTOGP MAKES ITS FIRST APPEARANCE AT AUSTIN FORMULA 1 EVENT

27 Oct 2026·

MotoGP made its first appearance at a Formula 1 event in Austin, where a Saturday demonstration run introduced the motorcycle championship to fans at the Circuit of the Americas. The event was organised by Liberty Media, which owns both series, as part of an effort to attract new audiences to MotoGP.

World Superbike champion Nicolò Bulega rode a Ducati, alongside MotoGP test riders Dani Pedrosa on a KTM, Andrea Dovizioso on a Yamaha and Lorenzo Savadori on a Trackhouse Aprilia. The riders and teams were present throughout the Formula 1 weekend, giving fans a chance to meet them and learn more about the bikes.

Bulega also visited the Audi garage, where he explained how the Ducati Desmosedici works to Nico Hülkenberg. The German driver listened closely as Bulega talked him through the machine. Trackhouse team boss Justin Marks used the occasion to showcase his outfit to the local crowd.

The promotion came after the previous weekend’s MotoGP event at Phillip Island was cancelled because of poor weather, while the Austin Formula 1 race went ahead as planned. Whether the crossover brings more fans to motorcycle racing will become clearer at the next MotoGP round in Austin, scheduled for late April 2027.
