RAZGATLIOGLU BEGINS RECOVERY AFTER SHOULDER SURGERY

27 Oct 2026·

Toprak Razgatlioglu has undergone surgery on his right shoulder and will miss the remainder of the 2026 MotoGP season, including the final four rounds in Sepang, Doha, Portimao and Valencia.

The Pramac Yamaha rider dislocated his shoulder in a crash during second practice at the Indonesian Grand Prix. He rode through the pain in Saturday’s sprint but retired from Sunday’s race after eight laps. Further examinations in Milan confirmed that an operation was needed. He also missed the Australian Grand Prix, and the injury has ended his season early.

Razgatlioglu was successfully operated on October 26 and shared an update the following day. “Sometimes unexpected things happen. I’m going through a difficult time, because for the first time in my racing career I’ve had to end the season early,” he wrote on Instagram. Watching the races on television, he added, felt “very strange.”

The three-time World Superbike champion said he had already resumed training after the procedure. “I had shoulder surgery so I can come back stronger, and I’ve already started training again. I hope to be back on the bike as soon as possible.” He thanked Yamaha, his team and the doctors, as well as supporters who had sent messages and good wishes.

Despite the setback, Razgatlioglu has been able to joke about his recovery: he posted a mirrored image on social media that made it appear his uninjured left shoulder had the surgical scar. His focus now is to recover fully and return fit for 2027, when MotoGP enters a new era with 850cc bikes and Pirelli tyres.
