ALEX MARQUEZ SAYS STRANGE FRONT-BRAKE LOCK-UP CAUSED AUSTRIA PRACTICE CRASH

Gresini Ducati’s Alex Marquez said his Friday crash at the Red Bull Ring came from a “strange problem” when the front brake locked as he accelerated out of Turn 1 toward the Turn 2 chicane, after a small wheelie. He added that the moment was abnormal for a circuit where braking is often on the limit, and that “your body isn’t ready for that.” Marquez was unharmed and later progressed through Q2, finishing eighth after the restart.
