EZPELETA SAYS MOTOGP’S GROWTH IS ABOUT MORE THAN RACE COUNT

13 Aug·

MotoGP CEO Carlos Ezpeleta said the series’ growth should not be judged only by how many races are on the calendar. Speaking about the sport’s expansion plan, he argued that the “business is much broader than that,” pointing to the wider commercial and operational picture behind the global footprint. Ezpeleta noted that this year MotoGP will stage 14 events in Europe and eight outside the continent. For next year, he said the balance is set to shift to nine races in Europe and 13 beyond it, adding that he expects the overall figure to “probably balance out.” His comments were framed around the idea that expansion is about more than simply adding rounds, emphasizing a longer-term evolution of MotoGP’s reach.
