FERMIN ALDEGUER RETURNS TO TRAINING AFTER ASSEN INJURY AHEAD OF ARAGON

Gresini Ducati rider Fermin Aldeguer is preparing to return to MotoGP action at the Gran Premio de Aragón after a crash at Assen left him sidelined for weeks. The 21-year-old’s comeback trail began this week, when he trained on a motorcycle for the first time since his injury.

Aldeguer’s problems started at the TT Circuit in Assen, where he suffered a crash that resulted in a fractured vertebra. As a result, he missed the races at Assen and was also forced to watch from the sidelines at later Grands Prix, including the Sachsenring and Silverstone. He had originally been aiming to return at the British Grand Prix, but the team and medical side extended his time off for safety reasons.

In Silverstone, Aldeguer did not race and was replaced by Iker Lecuona. According to the report, Lecuona took part in both the sprint and the main race but did not finish.

With Aragón approaching at the end of August, Aldeguer is now working toward being back on his own Ducati. The report places the Aragón weekend on 28–30 August, giving him a limited window to rebuild his rhythm after a two-month race absence. In the championship standings heading into the final stretch, he sits 11th with 76 points, with ten Grands Prix remaining at the time of writing.

To begin his return process, Aldeguer trained on the Circuito de Velocidad de Cartagena in the Murcia region. The session marked his first time back on the bike since the Assen crash, and he documented the progress via social media, posting images and videos. In one of his posts, he wrote: “Fast again.”

The plan is for Aldeguer to take the start at MotorLand Aragón and handle the final steps of his comeback after the extended rehabilitation period. The report frames his return as a key moment after missing multiple events due to the vertebra fracture, and it highlights how his week of training is being used to close the gap before he can again ride in MotoGP competition.
