HOLGADO SAYS GUEVARA HAS AN EASIER PATH TO MOTOGP
30 Sept 2026·

Dani Holgado believes Izan Guevara may have a smoother transition to MotoGP in 2027, despite Holgado’s own move putting him on a Ducati with Gresini.
Holgado is one of four Moto2 riders set to graduate to the premier class next season. The 21-year-old Spaniard, currently sixth in the intermediate-class standings with one victory, will join Gresini and partner Joan Mir, who is moving from Honda. David Alonso, Senna Agius and Guevara are also due to step up, joining Honda, Tech3 and Pramac respectively. Alonso’s Honda team has not yet been confirmed.
A Ducati seat and access to Marc Marquez’s data could appear to give Holgado a strong platform as a rookie. But he points to Guevara’s early experience with Pramac as a potential advantage. Guevara, who will replace Jack Miller, races for Pramac’s Moto2 operation and was able to take part in the team’s recent 850cc tests at Spielberg. He rode a detuned version of Yamaha’s 1,000cc bike.
Holgado told L’Esportiu that Guevara’s move within the same organisation could make the change easier: “I imagine it’s easier for Guevara because Pramac has teams in both Moto2 and MotoGP, and he’s making the step up within the same structure.” He added that it would have made little sense to prevent Guevara from joining the tests under his contract.
Holgado, meanwhile, does not expect to ride Ducati machinery before the end of the current season. “Contractually, until the final race of the season is over, I can’t ride any bike other than my team’s,” he said.
The Spaniard said his priority is to finish the Moto2 campaign strongly rather than focus too soon on his new challenge. “The best thing for me is to stay 100% focused on Moto2, and once the final race in Valencia is over, to start thinking about next season,” he said. “Obviously, I’m really looking forward to it, but I have to keep working hard in the present, and the future will take care of itself.”
