KTM REOPENS 2026 MOTOGP ENGINES TO ADDRESS RELIABILITY ISSUES

KTM has begun a targeted effort to address MotoGP engine reliability problems that dogged the opening phase of the 2026 season. After receiving permission from rival manufacturers, KTM’s engineers and technicians started a “surgical” inspection and repair process last Monday at the company’s engine production centre near Mattighofen—at Munderfing, just over three kilometres away. The team opened the specific engines linked to the issues, with the work described as a step to “revitalise” the power units. The procedure involves dismantling and examining the components believed to have caused the earlier headaches, as KTM looks to restore performance and reliability going forward.
