MARCO BEZZECCHI SET FOR MOTOGP RETURN AFTER THURSDAY MEDICAL CHECK

Marco Bezzecchi is set to return to MotoGP action this weekend, but his participation depends on passing a medical check scheduled for Thursday. The Aprilia factory rider enters the second half of the season after a disrupted run that has seen his form and fitness take a hit following earlier success.

Bezzecchi had started the year strongly, winning the opening three grands prix and adding an emotional home victory at Mugello. However, after that peak, his momentum stalled: over the last four rounds he scored just 13 points from a possible 148, with a combination of incidents, a race ban, and ultimately a broken collarbone that left him fourth in the championship. During the summer break, he also underwent surgery on his left knee.

Speaking ahead of his comeback, Bezzecchi said he is pleased to be returning, while stressing the need for clearance first. “I’m pleased to be returning, but I’ll need to undergo the medical check first in order to be declared fit to race,” he said. He added that the summer break was not what he had expected, but that he is eager to get back on track: “It was a rather different summer break than I had imagined, but I am truly happy to get back to racing and I can’t wait to get on my RS-GP26.”

Bezzecchi acknowledged he is not fully recovered yet. “I hope I can manage to stay well. I know I am still not at 100%, but I am extremely keen to get back at it.”

He will begin the next phase of the campaign fourth in the standings, 22 points behind Aprilia teammate and championship leader Jorge Martin. The weekend also marks a return to a circuit where he previously took his first RS-GP victory, with the track serving as a familiar reference point for his comeback.
