MOTOGP STAKEHOLDERS DISCUSS INTRODUCING A RIDER TRANSFER WINDOW
10 Aug·

MotoGP’s main stakeholders are examining the introduction of a defined rider transfer window, when teams would be allowed to sign riders. Autosport and Motorsport.com report that the idea is being discussed following a meeting of the recently created IRTA Management Council at the Silverstone paddock on Friday morning. The council brings together representatives from the MotoGP teams’ association, IRTA, and the teams themselves, and is understood to be studying how a fixed signings period could work within the championship’s existing framework. Both outlets describe the concept as akin to a “football-style” transfer window, with the key element being a specific time window that would set the boundaries for rider recruitment.
