POL ESPARGARO TO RIDE AGAIN IN ARAGON AS VINALES MISSES START

25 Aug·

KTM test rider Pol Espargaro will again step in for Maverick Viñales at the upcoming Aragon Grand Prix. After making his debut for Tech3 at Silverstone in early August, the Spaniard is set to replace Viñales at MotorLand Aragon, this time in his home event.

Tech3 team manager Nicolas Goyon explained that the decision was made jointly with Viñales and KTM so that the rider can focus fully on his recovery. “Together with Maverick and KTM we decided that Pol will race in Aragon so that Maverick can continue concentrating on his healing,” Goyon said. He added that Espargaro’s recent work with the team has been a positive sign: “Pol did solid work for the team in Silverstone, and thanks to his experience he is well prepared to step in again this weekend.”

Looking ahead, Goyon said KTM Tech3 is targeting a return for Viñales in mid-September at Misano. “The most important thing for us is that Maverick takes the time he needs to recover properly,” he stressed, adding that the team will support him throughout the process and will focus on Aragon with Pol and Enea in the meantime.
