ALDEGUER REPORTS BRAKE TROUBLE SIMILAR TO MARQUEZ’S IN AUSTRIA

Fermin Aldeguer says he encountered an inconsistent front-brake problem during the Austrian MotoGP, with symptoms resembling those reported by Marc Marquez. The two riders spent part of the race near each other as Marquez slipped back after suffering his own brake issue. He later said the lever’s feel varied from corner to corner; he recovered in the second half to finish fifth. Aldeguer came home eighth for Gresini Racing.

Aldeguer started 12th and made strong progress, reaching fifth during the middle phase of the race. “For sure we recovered a lot of positions; we arrived to the fifth with a good pace in the middle part of the race,” he said. He added that pushing to make up places meant using the rear tyre more, but felt the situation was “more or less” under control.

The front brake, however, did not behave consistently. “In some corner I arrived without brakes, something strange,” Aldeguer said. He believed other Ducati riders had also struggled in a similar way, though he did not identify a specific cause.

Rear-tyre performance was another concern. Aldeguer said grip was acceptable when the tyre was leaned over, but lacking through its centre. That reduced confidence in straight-line braking and acceleration. “The rear grip when I had a little bit of angle was quite good because I managed well,” he explained. “But in the center part of the tyre was nothing, something strange.”

Aldeguer said he spent the closing part of the race battling with Marquez and Brad Binder. Despite the brake and grip issues, he saw room for progress: “We can improve and we can do steps.”
