ALEX RINS SAYS VISION LOSS AND DIZZINESS FORCED HIS MISANO RETIREMENT

Alex Rins has explained that the health issues behind his mid-race retirement at Misano began before the Italian weekend, with symptoms that escalated to vision loss and dizziness.

The Monster Energy Yamaha rider said the first signs came at the Aragon round, when he experienced migraine-type pain on the left side of his head. He noted that the discomfort then disappeared after he took a painkiller. Rins described the pain as coming and going “like up and down,” and said that during Aragon it appeared before the sprint.

At Misano, however, the situation worsened. Rins said that while he did not have a major episode during the weekend until race day, the problem became much more severe during the Grand Prix. He retired with “12 laps to the end” remaining, explaining: “I started to lose a little bit of vision. I felt like really dizzy.”

After the Misano race, Rins underwent medical checks. He said: “After that, I went to the doctor on Tuesday to check. Apparently, everything looks okay. So, I'm doing a bit of physio.” When asked whether he had received an explanation for what happened, the Spaniard suggested possible contributing factors rather than a single confirmed cause. “It could be stress, the hot conditions that we had in Misano,” he said, adding that it might also be linked to other circumstances, including “the crash that I had in Silverstone.” He also pointed out that he had experienced the issue again in Aragon, “before the sprint,” and that the painkiller had helped there.

Rins’ comments came as another rider, HRC’s Joan Mir, also missed the Austrian MotoGP after retiring at Misano due to sickness.
