DI GIANNANTONIO SAYS VR46’S 2026 CAMPAIGN IS “AN AMAZING SEASON” AFTER SACKSENRING DNF

3 Aug·

Fabio di Giannantonio’s momentum in MotoGP 2026 took a small hit at the Sachsenring, where his first Sunday DNF of the season dropped him from third to fifth in the championship standings. The setback also ended his run as the highest-ranked Ducati rider, with Marc Marquez moving ahead at the halfway summer break.

Even with that result, di Giannantonio insisted the overall picture remains strong. “We are doing an amazing season, a lot of podiums, including Sprint races, and a lot of good results,” he said, highlighting that the team’s pace has been consistent rather than occasional. “The speed is always there; that's the most important thing. It's not just a ‘spark’, it's every track that we go to we are performing well.”

Di Giannantonio’s progress is reflected in the numbers: he has scored 42 more points than at the same stage last year, when he ultimately finished sixth overall. He has also collected eight top-three finishes, including a win at Catalunya.

Looking ahead, he pointed to how close the championship fight still is. “Then, also, we are just 24 points from the lead,” he said, adding that he’s fully enjoying the run. “I'm enjoying a lot every moment and in the last races I was also saying, ‘Wow, what a season!’”

The second half of the season starts at Silverstone this weekend. Di Giannantonio is also confirmed as a factory KTM rider for 2027.
