MARQUEZ EXPLAINS PRE-RACE PUSH-UPS AFTER MOTEGI DOUBLE
6 Oct 2026·

Marc Marquez left Motegi with two wins and a renewed grip on the MotoGP title fight, cutting Jorge Martin’s championship lead to just two points. The Ducati rider bounced back from a disappointing weekend at the Red Bull Ring, taking victory in Saturday’s sprint before beating Aprilia’s Martin in Sunday’s Grand Prix. Six race weekends remain in the season.
One moment before the sprint caught attention: still wearing his racing leathers, Marquez did a short set of push-ups beside his bike. He later explained that the exercise was part of his effort to prepare his injured right shoulder and upper arm, helping his body work properly from the start.
“I have to keep working on myself and adapt to each situation,” he said. “I have to do everything so my body functions well from the beginning.”
The Motegi results, he cautioned, do not mean the physical work is finished. “On the results sheet everything looks good, but I’m still working hard on myself and trying different things,” Marquez said, adding that he has a strong team offering useful advice.
Ultimately, though, he relies on his own judgement. “After many years of suffering, I’m the only one who really understands my body,” he said. “So I try to feel what’s needed at each moment and then put it into practice.”
Marquez and Ducati head next to Indonesia, where the Mandalika International Street Circuit hosts the following round.
