MARTIN AND BEZZECCHI REACT TO MARQUEZ’S INJURY PHOTO AFTER MULTIPLE SURGERIES

Jorge Martin and Marco Bezzecchi have both reacted to a recent gym image from Marc Marquez that showed the extent of damage to the Spaniard’s right arm and shoulder. The photo, shared on Instagram, offered a visible snapshot of the problems Marquez has been managing after a difficult period of treatment.

Crash.net reports that Marquez has now undergone seven surgeries, with the latest taking place in May. His surgeon’s description of his condition was stark: Marquez was left “with one and a half arms,” a line that underlined how serious the injury situation has become.

Martin, who is currently leading the title race, said he saw the post on Instagram and acknowledged the impact the injuries have on Marquez’s body. “Yeah, I saw it on Instagram,” Martin said. “For sure you see the impact [on his body] in the image.” He then placed Marquez’s situation in the wider context of MotoGP, pointing out that riders all deal with different physical issues. “But our sport is like this. We all have different [injuries]. I don’t know exactly what Marc has, or how much it is affecting him.” Martin added that pain is part of the job for many competitors: “I think we all have pain - well, maybe not all, but speaking for myself, I have some issues.”

Despite that reality, Martin stressed that the riders keep pushing because they love the racing. “But this is our sport. We love it even with these things, and that’s why we continue fighting.” He also noted that Marquez’s talent and condition are well known, even if the exact level of impairment is not something Martin can measure from the outside. “We all know the condition of Marc and his talent to do what he does with the injuries. But in the end it’s our sport. So we accept it.”

Bezzecchi, who has also missed races this season due to injury, echoed the same theme of acceptance in a dangerous discipline. Like Marquez, Bezzecchi required surgery—this time on his collarbone and knee—after an accident at July’s German Grand Prix. “Unfortunately, this is MotoGP. It’s what we love to do, but our sport is dangerous, so everybody gets hurt,” Bezzecchi said.

The report also recalls the contact between Bezzecchi and Marquez on the opening lap at Mandalika last year, which left Marquez needing surgery and out of the final rounds of the season. That incident also dislodged a bone fragment and screws, leading to a follow-up operation in May to address radial nerve issues.

With both Martin and Bezzecchi speaking from experience of their own injury setbacks, their reactions to Marquez’s photo were less about surprise and more about recognizing the physical cost that comes with competing at the highest level.
