MAVERICK VIÑALES WILL MISS AUSTRIAN GP AS TECH3 CONFIRMS POL ESPARGARO AS REPLACEMENT

Tech3 has confirmed that Maverick Viñales will again miss a MotoGP round, with the Spaniard set to be absent from the Austrian Grand Prix at the Red Bull Ring on September 15. The team says the shoulder injury that has kept him sidelined for a long time continues to limit him, meaning he will also miss his home KTM event.
With Viñales unavailable, Pol Espargaró—KTM’s test rider—will step in for the weekend. Tech3 stated: “Pol will be on the Red Bull Ring again this weekend. Maverick is still working on his recovery, and we hope to have him back in the box in time for the race in Japan, when the overseas tour begins.”
Viñales’ most recent race appearance came in early July at the Sachsenring. The team’s aim is for him to return to action on his RC16 at Motegi in early October.
