QUILES SAYS ALEX MARQUEZ’S DISCIPLINE STANDS OUT

15 Oct 2026·

Moto3 champion Maximo Quiles says he has learned valuable lessons from Marc and Alex Marquez, who have supported him throughout his rise. The 18-year-old, signed to the brothers’ agency in 2023, clinched the 2026 title in Indonesia with his 10th victory of the season and five rounds still to run. He will move up to Moto2 with Aspar next year.

In an interview with Mundo Deportivo, Quiles recalled meeting Marc for the first time on the set of a television series in Aragon. “I remember being really nervous, but I enjoyed it so much,” he said.

Asked what he had taken from the brothers, Quiles pointed to different qualities in each. He admires Marc’s way of dealing with pressure and Alex’s discipline, adding: “I’ve learned a lot from them.”

Quiles said their guidance is not limited to one defining piece of advice. Instead, he values the small pointers they offer when situations arise. He listens, considers what they recommend and decides whether it suits him, while trying to take in their perspective.

Marc can be demanding with Quiles in training, but the young rider’s results have underlined the value of that support. His dominant Moto3 campaign has fuelled expectations that he could eventually reach MotoGP. There had been speculation that the Marquez brothers might help him bypass Moto2 and move to the premier class in 2027, but that step did not happen. Aspar are also concerned that other teams could trigger a move for their rising star. For now, Quiles will continue his progression in Moto2, with attention likely to remain on how quickly he advances.
