AGIUS WILL ENTER MOTOGP AS MILLER EXITS THE GRID

Senna Agius will make his MotoGP debut with Tech3 KTM in 2027, but the Australian newcomer had hoped to share the premier-class grid with Jack Miller for at least one season.

The two Australians recently rode MotoGP bikes at the same time during a Pirelli test at Spielberg, a rare meeting that is unlikely to happen again soon. Miller is set to leave the Grand Prix paddock at the end of 2026 and join Yamaha’s factory team in WorldSBK. He will therefore miss the Valencia test on December 1, when Agius is due to begin his first official day with Tech3 KTM.

Agius, 21, said he was disappointed their careers would not overlap. “I really wanted to be on the grid with Jack, so it’s a bit disappointing that he won’t be there,” he told MotoGP.com.

The pair are friends, and Agius described Miller as a benchmark for Australian riders. “He’s a good friend of mine and he’s set the bar very high for Australian motorsport and all the young talent coming out of Australia for a long time,” he said. Taking on the role of the country’s next MotoGP representative is a responsibility he is proud to accept: “I’m incredibly proud to take on this responsibility, and I just want to make my country proud.”

A four-time Moto2 race winner, Agius will join Luca Marini at Tech3. He said he remains closely connected to his home country: “Australia is very close to my heart, and I value the country a lot. I never forget where I came from and try to be myself. I truly feel Australian.” Before making the step up, he will aim to finish the 2026 Moto2 season strongly; he currently sits fifth in the standings with 149 points.

Miller, meanwhile, is moving to WorldSBK after losing his Pramac Yamaha seat to Izan Guevara, Agius’ Moto2 rival. With Miller’s departure, Agius will be the sole Australian on the MotoGP grid when the championship visits the new Adelaide street circuit for the first time next season.
