BEZZECCHI REACTS AFTER ACOSTA SLIPS PAST IN ARAGON FIGHT

Marco Bezzecchi capped a demanding MotoGP weekend at MotorLand Aragon with a hard-fought third place, finishing just under three seconds behind race winner Marc Marquez. The Italian rider from the Adria had an early chance to set the tone: right after the start, he was able to counter Marquez into Turn 1, when the Spaniard’s electronic Right-Height-Device system had not yet been deactivated before that corner.

The race delivered plenty of action in the opening stages, with Bezzecchi later describing a key battle on the main straight. He said he could already hear Marquez’s bike behind him by Turn 15, and that the fight then moved to the straight: “We fought on the straight, the slipstream worked sometimes and then it would drop off again. Marc was unbeatable today with his experience and also his pace here.” Bezzecchi also referenced Marquez’s willingness to squeeze through in the chicane, noting that the winner had forced his way inside before the straight duel.

Bezzecchi’s podium push did not end there. In the closing phase, while he was battling Marquez in the braking zone ahead of the final corner, Pedro Acosta suddenly appeared on the outside and slipped past. Bezzecchi admitted the move caught him at the wrong moment: “Maybe over the distance I would have been the one to lose anyway. But I would have liked to fight a bit more against Acosta.” After the race, he added a lighter touch during the cool-down, joking to the Red Bull KTM rider: “Damn, where did you come from?”

Reflecting on the whole weekend, Bezzecchi said he was pleased with the outcome. “I’m very satisfied. It was a tough but wonderful weekend. I’ve been here for the first time on the podium on a track I’ve always liked. I rode well too. We worked really well with the team and also took pole. The pace wasn’t perfect, but I fought as hard as I possibly could to get on the podium.”

With the result, Bezzecchi sits third in the championship, five points behind Marquez, and has closed the gap to teammate Jorge Martin to 24 points ahead of his home race in Misano.
