DI GIANNANTONIO SAYS P7 CAN BE GOOD FOR THE CHAMPIONSHIP AFTER ARAGON RACE

Fabio Di Giannantonio admitted that Aragón delivered one of the toughest weekends of his season, despite finishing Sunday’s race in seventh. After a sprint Saturday ended with him in the gravel, he fought back to take P7, but the result still came with a heavy 23-second gap to the winner and Ducati teammate Marc Marquez.

Di Giannantonio was blunt about his feelings toward the overall package. “Happy is when you achieve a great result, a podium or a win. With the weekend we had, we can’t be happy,” he said. When asked whether Aragón was his most difficult weekend of the year, he answered directly: “Yes, definitely. We were not at the level this weekend; I can’t hide from that.”

He pointed to the fact that the problems were not limited to one factor. “We know what happened, and that we can change it,” he said, adding that the sprint crash also played a role. He explained that for the past two weekends, “small things” have been disturbing the overall setup, and that the team’s priority is to address them. The target is to fix those issues before the home race in Misano in two weeks.

Even with the tough outcome, Di Giannantonio framed the points as potentially valuable in the championship fight. He noted that the front group had pulled away, saying the top three were “in their own league,” and attributed the difference to how the riders and machines are progressing. “The technology is improving, the bikes and also we are getting faster. If you feel good on the bike, everything becomes easier. They were in better form than us this week,” he said.

For the championship, he took a positive lesson from Marquez’s example. “Marc teaches us that a seventh place can sometimes be good for the championship,” Di Giannantonio said. With 208 points, he sits fourth in the standings, with 48 points separating him from leader Jorge Martin after 13 of 22 rounds.
