LOCATELLI SAYS HE’D BE DELIGHTED TO TEAM WITH JACK MILLER AT YAMAHA IN 2027

Andrea Locatelli has said he would be “delighted” to team up with Jack Miller at Yamaha in World Superbike in 2027, even though neither Yamaha nor Miller has officially confirmed the move yet.

With Pramac promoting Izan Guevara from Moto2 to partner Toprak Razgatlioglu at Yamaha’s satellite team for 2027, Miller has been left looking for a ride outside MotoGP. That has pushed the Australian toward a future in WSBK, and Locatelli—who has been Yamaha’s leading figure during the current WSBK campaign—has now addressed what it would mean to share a garage with a four-time MotoGP winner.

Speaking to journalists at Magny-Cours via GPOne, Locatelli said he already knows Miller well from past work together at Suzuka. “I can say that I’d be delighted, because I’ve already been lucky enough to work with him at Suzuka for two years running,” he said. Locatelli added that he views Miller as both a “great driver” and “great talent,” while stressing he cannot comment beyond the current speculation. “I can’t say too much, because I don’t know if it’s been confirmed or if it will actually happen. If it were to happen, though, it could be a positive thing for everyone.”

The potential Yamaha pairing would also affect Locatelli’s current teammate, Xavi Vierge, who would likely have to leave the team if Miller arrives. Locatelli acknowledged that Vierge has been working to show his potential, but he made clear the decision is not his to make. “I think Vierge was also doing well at the moment and trying to show his potential, but it’s not a decision I make,” he said. He then added: “If Jack were to join us, however, he’d be a good teammate.”

Locatelli’s comments come against a backdrop of Yamaha’s broader struggles. He has previously admitted that Yamaha are “in trouble” with their current R1 Superbike, a factor that could shape expectations for Miller’s debut season in World Superbike.

While official confirmation is still pending, the prospect of Miller joining the Yamaha project has already drawn interest from the paddock, with Cal Crutchlow suggesting WSBK fans are in for a treat. Meanwhile, Vierge has also been linked with Ducati’s Barni WSBK team, one of the early storylines tied to Miller’s potential switch.
