PIT BEIRER SAYS KTM NEEDED ARAGON RESULT AFTER PEDRO ACOSTA’S SECOND PLACE

KTM’s long wait for a return to the podium finally ended at Aragon, with Pedro Acosta delivering a result that KTM Racing boss Pit Beirer described as “something we needed this weekend.” In the sprint, Acosta finished fourth, but in the Grand Prix he fought his way to second place at his home event, finishing behind Marc Marquez on the Ducati. Beirer said the podium was more than just a single strong race: it felt like a reward for “months of tireless work behind the scenes” for everyone at Red Bull KTM Factory Racing.

Acosta’s second place also marked a personal and team breakthrough after a dry spell, with Beirer pointing out that the last top-three result had come in Hungary at the beginning of June. Reflecting on the weekend, Beirer stressed that racing is never a straight line, describing the sport as a cycle of “ups and downs, setbacks and breakthroughs,” and adding that the key is staying faithful to the process and trusting the people around you.

Beirer also highlighted the wider KTM effort beyond Acosta. In the Grand Prix, Enea Bastianini impressed with an eighth-place finish, and Beirer singled out the way the team responded collectively—praising Acosta’s fight at the front, Bastianini’s recovery, Brad’s comeback after setbacks, and Pol’s “relentless” work. He summed up the feeling of seeing KTM back on the MotoGP podium by saying it “reminds us why we do what we do,” and he closed with pride for the whole group and a clear hunger for more.

In the final classification at Aragon, Acosta was beaten by 1.754 seconds by Marquez, while Marco Bezzecchi took third, 1.875 seconds further back. With the next round in Misano coming up, KTM’s riders will be looking to carry that momentum forward before the manufacturer’s 2027 restart with four new factory riders and an 850cc bike.
