BORSOI SAYS GUEVARA’S MINDSET SHIFT CONVINCED PRAMAC TO REPLACE JACK MILLER

Pramac Racing chief Gino Borsoi says the decision to sign Moto2 standout Izan Guevara for next year’s MotoGP campaign came down to a clear shift in the Spaniard’s approach. Borsoi explained that once Pramac saw Guevara’s “attitude” had moved on from the previous season, the team felt confident enough to promote him, even after re-signing Jack Miller to a one-year deal at the end of 2025.

Borsoi’s comments came after Pramac confirmed Guevara as their new acquisition, with Miller set to leave the premier class for a move to Yamaha’s factory World Superbike project. Miller, meanwhile, indicated he had kept his options open “until the last minute” when considering whether another seat might appear on the 2027 grid, before turning his focus to racing in Superbike next year.

For Borsoi, the key was the progress he believes Guevara has made not only in performance but also in mindset and preparation. “He has made a huge step, especially from last year to this year,” Borsoi said. “He has completely changed his attitude and his training. He is now a completely different person.” He added that the team was particularly satisfied with the mental development Guevara has shown ahead of his MotoGP debut, stressing that the rider now has the psychological tools needed for the class.

“He has everything he needs to show his speed,” Borsoi continued. “He now has the right mentality to race in MotoGP. In Moto2, he’s ready to fight for the championship, even if it will be difficult against Gonzalez.”

The Pramac-Yamaha partnership also marks a milestone: Guevara is described as the first rider to graduate from Pramac Yamaha’s Moto2 programme, highlighting a pathway from the support series into MotoGP for the team’s development structure.

While Borsoi framed the move as a positive step for Yamaha’s project, he also acknowledged the emotional side of the decision. “Of course, it’s also a sad moment for me because Jack is a great person,” he said. “He’s a really great person and an incredible racer.”
